Brussels: Spring Academy - Europe in Practiceeldr, mardi 7 avril 2009 15:59 ::
Supported by the ELDR Party and the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom, the European Liberal Forum asbl (ELF), the European political foundation of the liberal family, successfully organized the 2nd Spring Academy: Europe in Practice from 03-04 April 2009 in Brussels. The academy focused on the policy achievements of the ALDE group in the European Parliament over the past four years and explained the impact of decisions of the European Parliament to the citizens' everyday life. Among the many speakers were the liberal MEP Jules Maaten and other distinguished experts on economic and other liberal policies. A special highlight was the attendance of Siim Kallas, Vice President of the European Commission. As a former liberal Prime Minister of Estonia and Minister of Finance he discussed with the participants liberal solutions to the financial crisis and how to prevent such future scenarios. Participants came from all corners of the European Union, such as Finland, The Netherlands, Slovakia and the United Kingdom. |
