Resolution on full participation of women in politics (26/09/2005)The European Liberal Democrat and Reform Party, convening in Bratislava, Slovakia, on 24 September 2005,
Strongly committed to promoting equal opportunities in society and determined to increase women’s participation in Europe’s political life, the European Liberal Democrat and Reform (ELDR) party became an organisational signatory of the global initiative “Win with Women” on 18 April 2005 and consequently reaffirms its commitment to: • continuously promoting legislation enshrining the equality of opportunities between men and women • finding a balance between political work and family life by supporting legislation that provides for better child care facilities as well as facilities for the care of the elderly • supporting and working with International and civil society organisations that promotes women’s participation in political life • providing opportunities and financial support to the European Liberal Women’s Network so that it can contribute substantively to party policy and procedure, offer a platform for discussion of topical issues and act as a mentoring and support network. • ensure that their decision making bodies are gender-balanced |
