ELDR welcomes the resumption of talks for Cyprus settlement (10/04/2008)

In a resolution adopted at its last Congress in Berlin in 2007, ELDR urged the European Union to re-launch the process to seek a comprehensive settlement of the Cyprus problem through a high-level debate under the auspices of the United Nations.

Hope for the settlement of the Cyprus problem has returned, following fresh talks on Friday 21st of March 2008, between the leaders of the two communities on the island, Dimitris Christofias, newly elected President of the Republic of Cyprus and the Turkish Cypriot Leader, Mehmet Ali Talat.
