In almost exactly two weeks time, THE major European liberal event of the year kicks off: the ELDR Congress 13-15 October 2010 in Helsinki, Finland! Under the over-arching topic Challenges of Demographic Change, over 500 liberally minded people are set to gather for three days of discussions, elections and networking on topical issues such as how to counter the effects of an ageing Europe, the role of migration for future societies and how to ensure a proper work-life balance for Europeans, during as well as after the financial crisis. Over the past three days, European Liberals successfully concluded the ELF/ELDR Liberal Academy 2010. In the first of what will become an annual event, the Liberal Academy was bringing together 40 students from across Europe to the European Parliament in Brussels on the basis of an essay competition.
