The meeting this weekend was organised by the Movimento Liberal Social (MLS) from Portugal and the Partido de la Libertad Individual (P-Lib) from
Spain. The representatives of participating organisations all share the common liberal values as defined in the Liberal Manifestos of Oxford of 1947 and 1997.
The network, which will be called "Iberian Liberal Forum", is supported by Liberal International and the European Liberal and Democrat Party. It will focus on the strengthening of Liberalism in Iberian territories, through the exchange of ideas and the organization of common events, including an annual meeting.
The first annual meeting of the Forum will be held in Lisbon in 2011 and the second in Galicia in 2012.
