ELDR Party Political Activity - Folkpartiet: "Together for Liberal Democracy in Eastern Europe"eldr, Tuesday 18 May 2010 15:05 ::
Eastern Europe’s democratic transition constitutes an ongoing process. Liberalism as a tool to expand political, social and economic freedom to the individual continues to face adverse challenges, such as homophobia, nationalism, corruption and the lack of freedom of expression. Folkpartiet (Sweden) will organise a conference on 28th May in Stockholm titled "Together for Liberal Democracy in Eastern Europe". The first discussion will look at the controversies around gay pride festivals in Lithuania, increased nationalism in Serbia and the lack of freedom of expression in Russia.
