CONGRESS IN FINLAND 13-15 OCTOBER 2010

The 2010 ELDR Party Congress will take place in Helsinki, Finland between 13-15th October at the invitation of host parties Keskusta and Svenska Folkpartiet.

The 2010 ELDR Party Congress will take place between Wednesday 13th and Friday 15th October 2010 in the Marina Congress Centre, located at Helsinki harbour -  Katajanokanlaituri / Skatuddskajen 6, 00160 Helsinki/Helsingfors, Finland.

With over 500 delegates participating each year, the ELDR Congress is the number one event for European liberal democrats who want to exchanges ideas, network and debate and adopt policies in the European context.

The theme of this year's Congress is "the challenges of demographic change" and will explore issues such as how Europe can address the questions raised by increasing life expectancy and falling mortality rates; the type of social security and pension systems that we want and can obtain; labour market policies; and migration. The Congress discussions will build on those taking place in the framework the ELDR Focus Year on Demographic Change, which you can take part in at www.eldrfocus.eu.

The Congress fringe programme will start on the afternoon of Wednesday 13th October and will be accompanied by a welcome reception that evening at Helsinki City Hall at the invitation of the Mayor of Helsinki. The Congress is set to finish at 17:00 on Friday 15th October.

Accommodation

The Congress hotel is the Scandic Grand Marina Hotel, located directly opposite the Congress Centre at Katajanokanlaituri / Skatuddskajen 7, 00160 Helsinki / Helsingfors Finland. Delegates should contact their party's international officer for more details about reserving a room in the Congress hotel.
