Wanted! A strong liberal commissioneldr, Thursday 14 January 2010 15:19 ::
The first round of parliamentary hearings of the European Commissioners-designate has almost been completed. The liberal candidates proved to be strong candidates: well prepared, on top of their portfolios and prepared to turn liberal principles into political practice. Among them, Belgian Liberal Karel de Gucht, known to be a principled liberal politician, made clear that as Commissioner for Trade he would stand for open borders and free trade. He also called on the Chinese government to address the currency peg of the Yuan to the Dollar that contributes to global trade imbalances. |
