Croatia-Slovenia: first signs of a true spirit of European cooperation

Positive steps have been taken towards reaching an agreement that will end the border dispute issue between Croatia and Slovenia which will allow Croatia to continue its path towards EU membership.


Discussions, led by EU Enlargement Commissioner, Olli Rehn, between Croatia and Slovenia appear to have finally unblocked the stalemate between the two countries, even if no concrete solution has been announced yet.
ELDR believes that a deal will soon be announced thanks to the support of liberal commissioner Rehn.
Annemie NEYTS, President of ELDR, welcomes the present evolutions but notes with concern that the EU lacks a mechanism to solve problems between two member states quickly and efficiently.
