Fantastic victory for German Liberals

eldr, Sunday 7 June 2009 22:30 ::

The FDP won 11% and will therefore increase the number of German liberals in the European Parliament to 12. In comparison to the election five years ago, the party almost increased by 5 %.

European Liberals wholeheartedly congratulate their German sister party to a fantastic election campaign.

German Social democrats only scored 21%, slightly worse than five years ago. Also results from other countries suggest that European citizens refused to vote for concepts of nationalisation and protectionism but champion a free Europe.

Together with a strong liberal group in the Parliament German Liberals will make sure that the voice of reason will strongly be heard and the areas of freedom will be further extended.
