Rasmussen + Rasmussen - how to increase liberal presence in Europeeldr, Tuesday 7 April 2009 08:36 ::
After successful negotiations amongst NATO members and world leaders at the G20 summit, European liberals have recorded another significant achievement in the form of Anders Fogh Rasmussen, Prime Minister of Denmark and Leader of ELDR member party, Venstre, being officially appointed as the next Secretary General of NATO. The prestigious seat of Danish Prime Minister has subsequently been filled by another prominent liberal, the equally determined and excellent professional, Lars Loekke Rasmussen, Minister of Finance, who said: "I will go further on the same way of my predecessor". Annemie Neyts, ELDR Party President, congratulates her colleague and friend, Anders Fogh Rasmussen, and welcomes the newly appointed Lars Loekke Rasmussen, "This is a very challenging and meaningful period for European Liberals" - she commented. "Liberals have never been so involved and active in the European framework as we are now." |
