Catalan Liberals present their EU election programmeeldr, Thursday 23 April 2009 09:56 ::On 20th April the Catalan party member of ELDR, Convergencia Democratica de Catalunya (CDC), presented to its members their political programme for the EU elections at an event in Barcelona. At the invitation of the liberal foundations Llibertat I Democracia and CatDem, ELDR Secretary General Federica Sabbati presented the European Liberals' Manifesto and it four main priorities - economy, civil liberties, foreign affairs and environment. Ramon Tremosa, top candidate of the CDC list for the European Parliament, spoke about the party's vision on how to get out of the economic crisis, which includes reiterated support for the EU Single Market and of the rules of EU competition, as the economic pillars upon which citizens and companies across Europe can prosper. While the EPP falls back into protectionist solutions, he said, socialists across Europe still seem to blame market economy and the EU Single Market for the current crisis. |
