Speaking at the Party's spring conference in Harrogate last weekend, Clegg stated that the Lib Dems are the only party that, "will rebuild the jobs, homes and hopes this recession has destroyed." 

Clegg criticized Prime Minister Gordon Brown's approach to stimulating the UK economy and highlighted that the £12.5 billion the Government has borrowed to finance this year's 2.5% cut in VAT "could have created nearly 100,000 new jobs and laid the foundations, quite literally, for a new green economy."
