European Liberals call for competition ahead of G20

Liberal leaders yesterday gathered together for the ELDR Prime Ministers Lunch Summit to discuss preparations for the G20 talks in London on 2nd April and called for a real free market instead of stifling the economy with protectionism and for better international coordination in order to ensure a faster economic recovery and to prevent further crises. On 11th March, the same day as the 50th Anniversary of the Lhasa Uprising and the Dalai Lama's escape to India, the European Parliament adopted, at the initiative of Marco Cappato MEP, Radicali Italiani (ELDR member party), a resolution that calls for clear action to protect the rights of Tibetan people. Liberal success - another two year mandate for the Hague Tribunal

Liberals have recorded another significant achievement in the fight to ensure civil rights and liberties in the Balkans. Annemie Neyts MEP, President of the ELDR Party, Belgium, was the author of the European Parliament’s report on the Hague Tribunal, which was adopted yesterday by the Assembly with 558 votes in favour. The report calls on the ICTY mandate to be extended for a further two years. Read more ...
