ELDR soirée entirely dedicated to South Africa and the liberal perspective of one of the most important parliamentary opposition’s voice during the Apartheid-regime. His name is Colin Eglin and not only is he the former leader of the liberal South African party, he also served as an MP through the terms of seven Prime Ministers and Presidents.Being “one of the architects of our democracy” Eglin continued to make his impact in parliament over the first 10 years of South Africa’s transition to democracy. As a former leader of the Progressive Federal Party he contributed greatly to the forming of the Democratic Alliance Party that is today South Africa’s strong liberal party.
With him we will have the opportunity to discuss current liberal challenges and introduce his book “Crossing the borders of power” on Wednesday 10th September 2008 at 18:30 at ELDR’s party headquarters.
