ELDR condolences for the death of the Slovene independence leader Drnovsek

eldr, Tuesday 26 February 2008 16:00 ::

 Annemie Neyts and the ELDR Bureau express their condolences following the premature death of the former Slovene President, Janez Drnovsek, who died on Saturday 23rd February at the age of 57. “Slovenia has lost an eminent and sensitive leader – commented Mrs Neyts -. The process of managing the independence of Kosovo will miss such an important figure: He was a fighter in a battle against cancer, and I remember him fondly as a fighter in politics”.

Mr Drnovsek played a key role in Slovenia’s independence in 1991 and helped lead his country towards European Union and NATO membership.
