ELDR supports new proposal for governing European political parties

Statement ELDR Party Council on the adoption of the Proposal for a Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council amending Regulation (EC) No 2004/2003 on the regulations governing political parties at European level and the rules regarding their fundingThe ELDR Party Council meeting in Berlin on 18 October 2007,    Welcomes the compromise text presented on 15 October 2007 by the Portuguese Presidency, which is the result of thorough consultation with all member states, Looks forward to the swift adoption of the compromise text by the COREPER group, in order for the revised Regulation to come into force in 2008, Expresses its great satisfaction with the constructive approach the European Parliament has displayed in this process and, in particular, the significant role of the ALDE Group.
