Annemie Neyts, ELDR Party President visited Norway on 7 and 8 May to discuss the prospects of Norway’s accession to the EU with Venstre, ELDR Norwegian member party. She will meet the party leadership (President Lars Sponheim and Vice-Presidents Olaf Thommessen and Trine Skei Grande), the central board of the party, Anne Margrete Larsen (MP, foreign affairs committee) and Øyvind Eggen (leader of Venstre's international committee) and NUV, the liberal youth organisation.  After violent protests, Estonia relocated a Soviet war memorial from the centre of the capital, Tallinn, to the main military cemetery on 26 April, earlier than initially foreseen. Recognising that this monument is revered as a symbol of sacrifices in World War Two by many people, the Estonian authorities have planned to organise an opening ceremony for the memorial on 8 May in presence of the members of the Estonian government and allies of the Second World War including Russia.   Read more ...
