Federica Sabbati becomes new ELDR Secretary General

 Federica Sabbati succeeded Lex Corijn as ELDR Secretary General in January 2007. She was appointed to this function during the ELDR Party Council on 12th October, in Bucharest, Romania.Federica will oversee the general daily management of ELDR. Her main objectives will be to: - strengthen the liberal, democrat and reform movement in the European Union and throughout Europe and seek a common position on all important matters affecting the European Union;- support and co-ordinate its members in the elections to the European Parliament;- develop close working relationships with and among its members, their national parliamentary groups, the parliamentary Group of the ELDR Party of the European Parliament, the Liberal, Democrat and Reform Group in other international fora and Liberal International. Liberal Democrat Leaders to show the way forward from EU crisis

 On the eve of the EU’s 50th anniversary year, ELDR Party President, Annemie Neyts, today launched an appeal to Liberal Democrat Leaders to shake off the EU blues and to re-new commitment to the EU and the four founding freedoms on which it is based. This appeal is the result of an extensive consultation period with ELDR Prime Ministers, MEPs, Commissioners, member parties and stakeholders, which was first launched during the 2005 ELDR Congress in Bratislava.
