CONGRESS IN PARIS, 15-16 FEBRUARY 1980

Decisions were reached on:

- the extension of human and social rights in the European Community

- the electoral system for direct elections to the European Parliament

- Afghanistan and the Olympic Games.

Gaston Thorn was unanimously re-elected President; the Vice-Presidents were Willy De Clercq (P.V.V.) and the newly elected Jean-François Pintat (P.R.).
