Time for reflection: tell us your liberal story

Monday, July 6th, 2009

Summer is usually a time for reflection. Would you like to share with other European citizens your liberal story? Why are you a liberal? Why did you vote for a liberal party in the European elections? Or for example why do you believe the European Union is a liberal project?

If you have a story to tell, then this page on the ELDR blog is the right place for you! You can post your thoughts as a comment below this article.

Why am I a liberal?

Tuesday, May 12th, 2009

Ok, why i’m liberal?

Firstly - because i believe that there is no development without freedom. That’s the most important thing in the liberalism. I believe that people should be free not only because it’s effective in economy etc., but mainly because it’s fair.

Secondly - I’m against welfare state, etatism, and bureaucracy. We don’t need social benefits - what we really need is economic freedom, low taxes and less influence of state in our own life.

Thirdly - the freedom of speech and freedom of thought are sacred and political corectness mustn’t be a justification of restriction our freedom of speech.

Liberalism FTW!
