Here in Norway, we already have blocking in place - needless to say it does nothing to help the victims of these crimes, and very little to prevent the spreading of these images. Even worse - the block list is maintained by a couple of police officers with absolutely no democratic or judicial oversight. The block list is secret, and any complaints of wrongful blocking (there have been a few cases) are handled and evaluated by the same people who did the blocking in the first place. The police claims ISPs voluntarily participate in the blocking scheme, but as all major ISPs participate - customers do not really have the choice to avoid it. Also, the minister of justice has hinted that were the ISPs not to participate, he would make the blocking mandatory.</description>
