Summit of the European Liberal Prime Ministers 
Bibliothèque Solvay - Brussels
Thursday 29th October 2009

12h00 - 14h00

European Liberal Democrat Prime Ministers will meet on Thursday 29th October 2009 between 12h00 and 14h00 at the Bibliothèque Solvay, Leopoldpark, 137 rue Belliard, B-1040 Brussels, Belgium .
A press conference will take place from 13 h 30 to 14 h 00. Journalists interested in attending the press conference should contact Ms Chiara Puletti:

Moreover at 11 h 55 there will be the possibility for a tour de table.
The traditional Lunch Summit of the European Liberal and Democrats will take place prior to the European Council with the participation of:

Annemie Neyts-Uyttebroeck MEP, President of the ELDR Party
Andrus Ansip, Prime Minister of Estonia
Brian Cowen, Prime Minister of Ireland
Siim Kallas, Vice-President, European Commission, and Commissioner for Administrative Affairs, Audit and Anti-Fraud, Estonia
Lars Løkke Rasmussen, Prime Minister of Denmark
Cecilia Malmström, Minister of European Affairs, Sweden
Matti Vanhannen, Prime Minister of Finland
Guy Verhofstadt MEP, ALDE Group Leader, European Parliament, Belgium
Guido Westerwelle, Political Leader, Freie Demokratische Partei, Germany (TBC)

Topics to be discussed:

 

The Lisbon Treaty - state of play;
The new functions of President of the European Council and of High Representative/ Vice President of the Commission;
Appointing new commissioners;
The ELDR Congress;
Any other business.

Brian Cowen will attend at 14h15 in the same venue, the book launch of the Regina O’Conner, THE REASONS WHY - IRELAND AT THE HEART OF EUROPE. Press is kindly invited to attend.

Please note: for security reasons there is no parking available at the Bibliothèque Solvay
